1.1 These requirements cover battery holders intended for, but not limited to lithium batteries, emergency lighting and power batteries, and sealed nickel-cadmium batteries, which hold coin and AAA to D size cell type batteries.
1.2 These holders are intended for use in circuits where the charging voltage to the holder does not exceed Class 2 levels defined in the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70.
1.3 These requirements are intended to reduce the risk of fire or explosion when the batteries are used in a product. The performance tests also address the acceptability of the battery holders. The final acceptability of these battery holders is dependent on their use with the batteries in a complete product that complies with the requirements applicable to products in which the product is intended to be used.
