RUBBER HOSE FOR RADIANT HEATING

1 Scope

1.1 These requirements cover hose, in sizes up to and including a nominal internal diameter of 1 inch (25.4 mm), intended to convey water or other heat transfer fluids, at a maximum working pressure of 100 psig (0.69 MPa) and a maximum working temperature of 82°C (180°F), for the purpose of radiant heating of floors and driveways. The hose can be installed in direct contact with combustible building materials. The hose is intended to be installed in accordance with the manufacturer's installation instructions provided with the product and any local codes.

1.2 These requirements do not cover couplings or their method of attachment.

1.3 These requirements do not include the heat source, manifolds, valves, controls, or the efficiency of heat transfer.

1.4 The fire resistance rating of a floor assembly, existing or new construction, may be adversely affected by the installation of the heating hose or hose assemblies, unless the rating of the floor assembly in combination with the hose or hose assembly has been determined and found suitable for the application. The local authorities having jurisdiction should be consulted as to the acceptability of the fire resistance rating of the floor assembly with the hose or hose assembly installed.

1.5 A product that contains features, characteristics, components, materials, or systems new or different from those covered by the requirements in this Outline, and that involve a risk of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons, shall be evaluated using the appropriate additional component and end-product requirements as determined necessary to maintain the acceptable level of safety as originally anticipated by the intent of this Outline. A product whose features, characteristics, components, materials, or systems conflict with specific requirements or provisions of this Outline cannot be judged to comply with this Outline. Where considered appropriate, revision of requirements shall be proposed and adopted in conformance with the methods employed for development, revision, and implementation of this Outline.
