The following changes in requirements to the Standard for Household Refrigerators and Freezers, UL 250, are being proposed for preliminary review and comment only:
1. For Preliminary Review Only: Adoption of the Eleventh Edition of the Standard for Household Refrigerators and Freezers, which include the following changes: a) Addition of ingress protection for refrigerators and freezers, b) Addition of refrigerator ice dispenser parts testing for durability, c) Editorial correction for child entrapment volume and other clarifications, d) Addition to define and performance test large drawers, e) Revision to the overheating protection of motors requirements, f) Addition of an Ignition test for switching components exposed to flammable refrigerants, g) Addition of an exception to identify the overlap in the UL 873 and UL 60730 Series requirements for calibrated temperature sensing controls, h) Addition of ultraviolet light requirements, i) Revision to clarify switch requirement, j) Revision to amount of flammable refrigerant, k) Addition of Flame spread/radiant panel test for very thin doors and cabinets and clarification to applicability of current requirement, l) Addition of electronic media instruction requirements, m) Addition of double insulated thermoelectric refrigerator requirements, n) Addition of exterior glass requirements, o) Revision to reference the minimum insulation thickness for appliance wiring material rather than the nominal insulation thickness, p) Editorial revisions which include: renumbering, updates to format, updating standard and code references, updating the standards referenced in Annex A
