SUMMARY OF TOPICS

The following changes in requirements to the Standard for Lampholders, UL 496, are being proposed:

1. Prohibition of aluminum as a terminal plate material when used for field wiring and mounting in or on an outlet box

2. Add requirements to Table 13 for unacceptable contact-making gauge for E26d (3-way) lampholders

3. Reinstate minimum lead wire gauge and clarify minimum lead wire length requirements

4. Clarification of indoor damp location rating for refrigeration type lampholders

5. Add minimum RTI requirements for pilot-type lampholders and indicator lamps

6. Replace omitted requirement for test potential for lampholder enclosures

7. Add requirements to clarify marked temperature rating to reflect lowest RTI value used in body of socket

8. Clarification of temperature test for dimmer-type lampholders

9. Revision to center contact dimensions for EX39 and EP39 (mogul) lampholders

10. Clarification of screwthread conformity test for skeleton-type lampholders
