The following is being proposed for preliminary review and comment only:
1. For Preliminary Review Only: This proposed Third Edition of the Standard for Self-Ballasted Lamps and Lamp Adapters, UL 1993, includes the following major changes from the previous edition: a) Expansion of the scope to include range of products intended to be covered by the standard; b) Added and revised glossary definitions; c) Revised and relocated section covering polymeric materials; d) Revised spacing of electrical parts; e) Added requirements for LED light sources generating coherent light; f) Added requirements for devices with input rating greater than 50 W; g) Canadian tests for deflection and lamp fault condition are being proposed to be added for all countries; h) New end-of-lamp-life tests are being proposed; i) Consolidated and relocated descriptions of test apparatus; j) Relocated production-line tests; k) Revised marking section to clarify requirements for dry/damp/wet locations; l) Miscellaneous editorial revisions such as relocating requirements throughout the standard, correcting references, and editorial clarifications
