This Issue No. 5 of the Outline of Investigation for High-Expansion Foam-Extinguishing System Equipment and Concentrates includes the following:
1. Revisions address compatibility with the requirements for the design, installation, operation, testing, and maintenance of foam systems for fire protection included in the Standard for Low-, Medium-, and High-Expansion Foam, NFPA 11.
2. Where appropriate, such as with similar equipment, components, and intended end use; revisions address consistency of test methods and requirements established for low-expansion foam liquid concentrates and equipment included in the Standard for Foam Equipment and Liquid Concentrates, UL 162.
3. Considering high-expansion foam liquid concentrates are for use with specific foam equipment; additional revisions provide general clarification of test methods and requirements, promote repeatability of test results, and correlate the foam quality expansion ratio from the fire tests to the full-scale discharge equipment.
